Los Cristianos, once a modest fishing village, has transformed into a bustling resort town on the southern coast of Tenerife. I’m constantly amazed by its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and diverse attractions that draw visitors from around the world.
The sun-soaked town and its exceptional offerings have left a lasting impression on me.
During my visit, I discovered that Los Cristianos is part of the Arona municipality and is only a 15-minute drive from Tenerife South Airport. This convenient location made it easy for me to explore the island’s other popular destinations, such as Playa de Las Americas.
However, the allure of Los Cristianos itself, coupled with its alluring landscape and perfect weather, was enough to keep me enthralled.
Popular activities in Los Cristianos include guided kayak tours, paragliding, and snorkelling adventures. My personal favourite was the extraordinary opportunity to watch dolphins and turtles up close during a kayak safari.
These experiences, along with the town’s warm, welcoming vibe, have made it a top vacation spot on the island of Tenerife.

Los Cristianos, once a small fishing village, has transformed into a bustling resort on the south coast of Tenerife. Its growth is mainly due to the Canary Islands’ tourism boom, which has attracted many visitors to its beautiful beaches, long promenades, and quality accommodations.
Despite development, Los Cristianos maintains its unique history and charm.

I am located in the Arona municipality, just 15 minutes from Tenerife South Airport. Los Cristianos is one of the most popular destinations in Tenerife, thanks to its proximity to other attractions such as Playa de Las Americas.
The island of La Gomera is also accessible via ferries from my harbour.
Weather Conditions
As part of the Canary Islands, I boast sunny weather throughout the year. This contributes to a great outdoor experience and activities such as:

Siam Park
I visited Siam Park, one of the best water parks in Europe. With a Thai-inspired theme, the park offers a unique experience for all ages.
There, I enjoyed some of the world’s most exciting water slides, such as the Tower of Power, a 28-meter vertical drop.
For those looking for a more relaxed experience, I highly recommend the lazy river or the Wave Palace, with its impressive artificial waves.
Monkey Park
One of my personal favourites was Monkey Park, a small zoo located close to Los Cristianos. I had the opportunity to interact with different species of monkeys and learn about their habitats and behaviours.
A great place for animal lovers, Monkey Park also houses a variety of reptiles, birds and other mammals. I appreciated the park’s commitment to conservation and education.
Aqualand
Aqualand is another fantastic water park located near Los Cristianos. It features numerous water slides and attractions, catering to both adrenaline-seekers and families with children.
Some of the attractions I tried included the Kamikaze, a high-speed slide, and the Tornado, a thrilling vortex ride. Additionally, the park hosts a popular dolphin show which mesmerized me with acrobatics and stunts.
Jungle Park
Lastly, I explored Jungle Park, a wildlife refuge and adventure park. The park is home to over 500 animals, including big cats, primates, and birds of prey.
Walking through the park, I felt as if I were deep in the jungle, with lush vegetation and waterfalls surrounding me.
Jungle Park also offers various adventure activities, such as ziplines and bridge walks, making it a must-visit destination in Los Cristianos.
Beaches and Promenades
Playa de Los Cristianos
During my visit to Los Cristianos, I found Playa de Los Cristianos to be a calm and relaxing beach. The waters were calm and inviting for a swim, making it safe for families and swimmers of all levels.
This large beach is protected by the harbour, giving it a peaceful atmosphere. I noticed that many visitors spent their time sunbathing on the soft golden sand, enjoying the tranquil turquoise waters.
Playa de Las Vistas
Another beach I visited in Los Cristianos was Playa de Las Vistas. This is probably the most popular beach in the area and for good reason.
Soft golden sand and pristine turquoise waters stretch out along the coastline, creating a simply stunning landscape.
I observed that sunbeds were available for rent here, and visitors seemed delighted with the opportunity to soak up the sun and take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear water.
Las Americas Promenade
After spending time at the beach, I took a stroll along the Las Americas Promenade. This stretch of promenade runs from the surfing scene at Playa Honda to the picturesque palm-lined Playa del Camisón.
I was pleasantly surprised by the tranquillity of the promenade, contrary to the common perception of Playa de Las Américas as a noisy and hectic resort destination.

One of my favourite culinary experiences was at MOKELINO Tapas & Cocktails. They offer Mediterranean food, tapas, burgers, drinks, and cocktails in a relaxed environment with an open kitchen and seafront terrace.
This restaurant, found at Los Cristianos, impressed me with its delicious dishes, and I particularly enjoyed the tapas selection.
Another fantastic option is Pescaito Los Cristianos Fish Bar. Located on the second line of the beach of Los Cristianos harbour, this family-run establishment specializes in Canarian and Andalusian food.
They offer full and half rations to share, with options like calamari, cuttlefish, baby squids, and shrimp omelette, among other tasty choices.
Bars and Nightlife
During my time in Los Cristianos, I found that the nightlife was vibrant and diverse. One of the standout bars that I visited was The Market Tavern.
Located at Avenida Juan Carlos I 1, it offers a cosy atmosphere, attracting tourists and locals alike. With a wide range of beers and spirits, it’s an excellent spot to unwind after a day of exploring the island.
Another nightlife option in Los Cristianos is the Guachinche Gastronomic Tour. This 4-hour tour takes you to some fantastic spots along the northern coast of Tenerife, where you can enjoy typical food and wine.
At $100 per adult, it’s a unique way to spend an evening discovering and indulging in the rich culinary culture of the region.
Transport and Tourism
The Port and Harbour
During my visit to Los Cristianos, Tenerife, I was drawn to the bustling port and harbour area. Various excursions are offered from the port, including whale and dolphin watching, game fishing, and diving experiences.
For those interested in underwater adventures, I noticed that trips on glass-bottom boats are also available.
Ferries to Nearby Islands
I found that Los Cristianos serves as an important gateway to the other Canary Islands, providing frequent ferry connections to La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.
Conveniently, these islands can be visited as day trips or extended stays, allowing me to explore the unique features of each island while enjoying the comforts of Los Cristianos as my base.

In addition to the ferry connections, I was also able to utilize the reliable public transportation, provided by the TITSA (Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife SA) bus company, to explore the rest of Tenerife island.
Shopping and Souvenirs
Local Shops
During my visit to Los Cristianos, Tenerife, I highly recommend checking out the local shops for a unique and enjoyable shopping experience.
Los Cristianos Market is the largest market in the south of Tenerife, where you’ll find a variety of items, such as:
- Souvenirs;
- Fake brand purses;
- Clothes;
- Watches.
Be aware that the market can get crowded, so keep an eye on your belongings.
In addition to the market, there are other shopping options, like the Passarella Oasis Centro Comercial.
I visited the supermarket Dialprix daily for water supplies and fresh rolls, which I found to be one of the cheapest shops in the area.
Boutiques
For those interested in boutiques and designer labels, Los Cristianos offers a selection of shopping centres with a variety of options.
Near the main beach on the Costa Adeje, you’ll find a bijou shopping centre with:
- Boutiques set around beautifully tiled patios;
- Fountains and palm trees.
Some of the top shops and boutiques I found in Los Cristianos include Nike, Pull & Bear, Mango, and Zara.
For book lovers, there’s even a literary fixture that was founded in 1984, offering new and second-hand books in various languages as well as magazines.
Remember that Tenerife is known for its duty-free shopping, which means you can find great bargains on items like alcohol, cigarettes, perfume, and electrical goods.
